Our Prime Minister has launched “Fit India Movement” on 29th August, 2019 Thursday.
He said this initiative will take our country to the healthier future. “Fitness is zero percent investment with infinite returns,” The campaign is aimed at encouraging people to include physical activity and sports in their everyday lives. A committee headed by sports minister Kiran Rijiju and comprising government officials, members of Indian Olympic Association (IOA), National sports federation, private bodies and fitness promoters, has been formed to take the movement forward.
Fitness is always been a part of our culture. But now a days, People have become too lazy and don’t give a damn about their fitness. In past years people used to walk or run around 10 to 12 km daily, But today’s generation can’t even walk around 1 km. If they want to go anywhere they go by bikes and cars.
“Modi said that the younger generation is grappling with lifestyle diseases is a worrying trend”.
“It has become fashionable to talk about fitness rather act on it. For few, talking about it is a fashion statement which doest help” said the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister said that people in any profession can make themselves efficient in their profession if they are mentally and physical fit. If body is fit, then you would be mentally fit. Sports has a direct relation to fitness but ‘Fit India Movement’ aims to go beyond fitness. Fitness is not just a word but an essential pillar to a healthy and prosperous life. When we prepare our bodies for battle, we make the country strong as iron. Fitness is part of our historic legacy. Games and sports are played in every nook and corner of India. While working on the body they also train the mind, increasing focus and coordination of body parts. A healthy Individual, a healthy family and a healthy society are the essentials to make New India a Fit India.
