We will continue to be friends, Uddhav Thackeray tells Devendra Fadnavis
The election for the Speaker’s post for Maharashtra Assembly will be held today, a day after the ruling alliance NCP-Congress-Shiv Sena cleared the floor test. The BJP has taken back the nomination of its candidate, Kisab Kathore, for the post of Maharashtra Assembly speaker making Aghadi’s candidate Nana Patole unopposed. On Saturday, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, along with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Congress passed the floor test in the Maharashtra Assembly with 169 votes. According to the apparent power-sharing formula between members of Maha Vikas Aghadi –Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress — the speaker will be elected from the Congress, while, the deputy chief minister will come from the NCP. The Congress on Saturday announced party MLA Nana Patole as the candidate of the ruling Shiv Sena-Congress-NCP alliance for the election for Maharashtra assembly Speaker’s post, while the BJP named Kisan Kathore as its nominee.
Fadnavis thanks on being appointed as Leader of Opposition, says happy to have worked with Uddhav for last 5 years while Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Supriya Sule has demanded Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray for a separate ministry for specially-abled people. She has also demanded to shut down of Maha portal and opening a new website for jobs for youth.
Maharashtra Chief Minister & Shivsena Supremo Uddhav Thackeray said that I have learnt a lot of things from Devendra Fadvanis and I will always be friends with him. I am still with the ideology of ‘Hindutva’ and won’t ever leave it. In past 5 years, I’ve never betrayed the govt. He added that he is a lucky CM because those who opposed me are now with me and those who I was with are now on the opposite side. I am here with my luck and blessings of people. I have never told anyone that I will be coming here but I came. “Devendra ji I will not call you virodhi paksh neta, I will rather call you a big party leader so that we can together work for the welfare of the state,” Uddhav Thackeray said.

“I came here because of my fate and because of the blessings of people. I have learnt a lot from you Devendra Fadnavis and we will continue to be friends. I never tried to sabotage the earlier government and even told our ministers to never lie and stab people in the back and never work in the darkness of night,” Uddhav Thackeray said. “Keeping our word is my Hindutva”, he added.
Devendra Fadnavis officially appointed as Leader of opposition in Maharashtra Assembly, said that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray should now fulfil his own earlier demand of Rs 25,000 per hectare to farmers for crop damages. Fadnavis said this in the Assembly while congratulating senior Congress leader Nana Patole on being elected Speaker of the Lower House of the state Legislature.
